How to Apply?
The Mona Institute of Applied Sciences (MIAS)
acknowledging the need for competent professionals to lead
the Information Technology Industry, proudly presents its
Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology. This programme
has been carefully designed to complement the needs of the
dynamic and the ever-expanding IT industry of our country
as well as meeting and surpassing International Standards
leaving the student with improved self-worth and cutting edge
To train graduates with degrees in disciplines
other than Information Technology and Computer Science and
bring them to a level between a good honours degree and an
MSc in Information Technology. Students are expected to have
first degrees in engineering, mathematics, natural sciences,
classical and modern languages, humanities, business, economics,
law or other disciplines.
- To enable graduates acquire “hands-on” applied
skills in Information Technology, which will complement
the university education these graduates will have already
- To enable graduates acquire a good enough theoretical
foundation in Information Technology to be able to understand
the underlying key concepts (e.g. of algorithm, program,
system, abstraction, etc).
- To offer this training in an accelerated format, ordinarily
in 2 semesters of taught courses and 1 semester in which
students do an individual project.
To be eligible for consideration for entry
to study for the postgraduate diploma in Information Technology
candidates must be:
- Graduates with a baccalaureate degree of an approved University
- In possession of qualification and experience approved
by Senate (UWI) on the recommendation of the Board for Graduate
Studies & Research.
